Wheat Pilaf

  1. 3 cups veggie stock or water
  2. if using water, add 1 tablespoon Bragg's Aminos or soy
  3. 2 cups bulgar wheat
  4. 1 head celery, sliced
  5. 1 large onion, sliced
bring water to boil, add veggies, simmer 5 minutes add bulgar wheat, bring back to boil, cover and simmer 25 minutes, remove from heat and let stand 5 mor more minutes. Use as a side dish, alternative to rice.
Or add more veggies, such as mushrooms, peas, green beans, etc for a one pot supper.

Fried Rice

  1. 1 c Uncooked rice
  2. 5 T Butter
  3. 1 c Chopped onion
  4. 1 c Chopped carrots
  5. 2/3 c Chopped scallions
  6. 3 T Sesame seeds
  7. 5 Eggs
  8. 5 T Soy sauce
  9. Salt
  10. Pepper
Cook rice according to package directions. In a large skillet melt butter. Add onions, carrots and scallions. Saute until carrots are translucent. Set aside. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place sesame seeds in a shallow pan. Bake until golden brown (10 to 15 minutes), shaking pan occasionally for even color. Lightly grease another skillet. Beat eggs. Pour into hot skillet. Cook as you would scrambled eggs. Combine rice, vegetables,sesame seeds and eggs. Add soy sauce. Stir. Salt and pepper to taste.

Red Beans and Rice

  1. 2 c Uncle ben's long grain rice (cooked)
  2. 1 - 16 oz. can Red chili beans in chili gravy
  3. 1 t Chili powder
  4. 1/4 ts Cumin
  5. Dash garlic salt
In saucepan, heat beans without letting them boil. Stir in chili powder, cumin and garlic salt. When piping hot, add warm rice and gently mix. Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits.
